Forests as a catalyst to combat climate change

La Vanguardia continues with its environmental and social commitment by adding more events to the cycle of conferences it organizes under the title "SOS_tenibilidad". In this space, the newspaper gives voice to global leaders of conservation activism so that they inspire the social community with their initiatives.

On this occasion he does so with an expert figure in the care of the forest mass as a solution to reverse climate change. This is Anita Soina, a climate educator in Kenya, who has been working for several years, together with her Maasai community, to avoid the effects of climate change.

Anita's profile is very unique, since she began her activism when she was only 17 years old. At that age she began the journey to defend her land from droughts, deforestation, mining and poor resource management. A series of factors that have presented a real challenge for her community.

The speaker of this sixteenth conference of the "SOS_tenibilidad" cycle has developed tree planting projects and has conveyed to society as a whole the need for their conservation. In her book "The Green War", Soina explains environmentalism in a simple way for all audiences: children, young people, social leaders and citizens in general.

The generosity of our protagonist has led her to recently create the Soina Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to seek the necessary support for rural Maasai communities.

Anita Soina will be live with all interested parties through the La Vanguardia website, where you can follow the event. It will be next Friday, March 29 at 12 noon.
