A male Pacific walrus calf, just one month old and weighing 200 pounds (90 kilograms), was found stranded several miles from the ocean on the North Slope region of Alaska, and was airlifted from there. to the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward. In this center, he cares and gives attention 24 hours a day to keep the small marine mammal alive.

The center, a benchmark in marine research and conservation, has embarked on a painstaking task to ensure the survival of the baby walrus, whose dark-colored, wrinkled skin indicated dehydration and possibly infection. As they recalled in a statement, this is the Center's first walrus patient in four years and one of the ten admitted in the institution's 25-year history.
