Vox supports Mazón and supports sending water by boat to Catalonia if Valencia is not harmed

Vox has no intention of opening another battle with Catalonia or the PP over water. The first vice president of the Generalitat and maximum exponent of Vox in the Valencian government, Vicente Barrera, has assured that his party supports the sending of water in ships from Sagunt (Valencia) to Catalonia as proposed by the Ministry of Ecological Transition if the drought persists. Barrera has assured that he is "absolutely aligned" with President Mazón who has already shown his approval of the measure to alleviate the drought suffered by the neighboring community.

"If it is something specific, and as long as there is no harm to the Valencian Community, yes, of course, we are in favor of solidarity between the regions of Spain," he stated in statements to the media.

In the line expressed this weekend by the head of the Consell, Barrera has defended "solidarity between basins and regions", the same solidarity "that was denied to us in 2003 by the socialist Government and by the Generalitat (Catalan), then chaired by Maragall". Despite this, he has pointed out: "We are not going to act in the same way."

The Vox leader recalled that Mazón "is asking for perceptive reports from the Ministry" to ensure that this transportation of water from the Sagunt desalination plants "will not harm the coasts, seas and seabed of the Community."

Along the same lines, the Minister of Agriculture, José Luis Aguirre (also from Vox), has defended that "water does not belong to a specific region" and has described as "commendable" the position of the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, open to this shipment, because "we must set an example" and "not do like the PSOE when it frustrated the Ebro transfer by seeking support from ERC."

However, Aguirre has not missed the opportunity to launch a barb and has stressed that "it will be peculiar" to see "a boat loaded with water crossing in front of the mouth of the Ebro pouring water into the sea."
