Tomás Guitarte, candidate of the Existing Coalition for the European elections

The spokesperson for the Aragón-Teruel Exist group in the Cortes of Aragón and former national deputy, Tomás Guitarte, will be the candidate for the European elections representing the Exist Coalition, an alliance of representative formations of the emptied Spain and the municipalism that was born with the vocation of defend the territory and the rural world. The coalition and its program will be presented publicly on April 24 in Madrid.

According to sources from the Teruel party, the alliance was born supported by three legs. On the one hand there are the parties of emptied Spain, among which are Aragón-Teruel Exist, Soria Now and Cuenca Now. Along with them, there is the party For a Fairer World, more focused on social issues, as well as dozens of municipalist parties from all over Spain, some as relevant as the Cádiz-based La Línea 100x100, from the Línea de la Concepción (more than 60,000 inhabitants), headed by Mayor Juan Franco.

In a press release, Teruel Existen points out that all these formations join forces to face elections to which they will bring the voice of “that Spain forgotten by the big parties.” They also highlight the effort made to present a commitment of “marked municipal character” in which options from municipalities and towns of all types of sizes have a place with a common denominator: “the defense of the people of each territory and human rights.” .

Among the first notes of his program will be to tackle some of the endemic evils of the territories, such as depopulation, agrarian policies, migratory flows or infrastructure and telecommunications.

Tomás Guitarte, trained as an architect, made history by becoming the first representative in the Congress of Deputies of the so-called Spain emptied through Teruel Exist in the November 2019 elections. On that occasion, he gave his support to the first Government of Pedro Sánchez, with whom he signed in exchange a government pact with some of the main demands for the province.

After that experience, Guitarte was the candidate for Aragón-Teruel Exist in the regional elections of May 2023, where they did not meet expectations and only won three deputies. At the national level, his replacement, Diego Loras, could not maintain the Teruel people's position in Congress.
