The Zaragoza auditorium is renamed Princesa Leonor

The Zaragoza Auditorium will be renamed the Princesa Leonor Auditorium. This was approved by the plenary session held this Thursday in the city hall of the Aragonese capital at the proposal of the mayor, the popular Natalia Chueca. The votes of his party and Vox (19) have been the only ones in favor of the initiative, which has been met with the abstention of the PSOE (10 votes) and the refusal of the two representatives of Zaragoza en Común (ZeC) “due to their deep republican values.”

The modification, advanced a few days ago, had already been communicated to the Royal Family. From the government team, they explained that this change is a way to show the city's affection for the heir to the throne, who this year is completing her first year of military studies at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza. A similar measure was taken in the past with her father, after whom the Príncipe Felipe pavilion, one of the main sports infrastructures in the city, is named.

During the plenary session, Chueca assured that she, “like most Zaragoza residents,” feels proud of her head of state for what the Crown represents and for being the guarantor of the unity of Spain.

“Princess Leonor is going to be the future queen of Spain. It seems like the time, when she comes of age, to pay tribute to her by naming the most important cultural facility in the city after her,” she explained.

However, his request to the plenary session for “unanimous and seamless” support was met with opposition from the left-wing group ZeC, which accused the popular party of using the announcement “to divert the focus” on other controversial issues in the order of the day.

“It is a good example of Chueca's policies: an empty shell that has to be filled with smoke,” they added, while questioning the fact that local artists such as Bunbury, Amaral, Labordeta or the rapper have not been taken into account for the renaming. Kase O.

For their part, the socialists abstained “not because they have anything against the Crown, but because this proposal does not make sense or importance,” and they stressed that this type of equipment usually bears the brand of the city in many parts of Spain and of Europe.

After beginning her three-year military training in the summer, Lady Cadet Borbón-Ortiz swore her flag in the presence of her parents on October 7 before beginning the second course in the Army that she will take at the Zaragoza institution.

The study plan designed specifically for her provides that her training will continue the following year with the Navy in Marín (Pontevedra) and a third in San Javier (Murcia) with the Air Force.
