The result of Madrid and Girona can change due to the vote of Spaniards abroad

The vote of Spanish voters abroad can change the result of the general elections on 23-J in the provinces of Girona and Madrid, where it is possible that the Popular Party will obtain one more deputy in each case at the expense of Junts and the PSOE.

According to official ballot data provided by the Ministry of the Interior, the PP would barely need 363 more votes than Junts to wrest a seat in the province from this formation. The same situation occurs in Madrid, where the PP would take a seat from PSOE if it got 1,547 more votes than the Socialists.

These votes from the Census of Absent Spanish Residents Abroad (CERA) and the Census of Temporarily Absent Resident Voters (ERTA) are counted in the general scrutiny that is held five days after the vote. In the case of the general elections held this Sunday, this general count will not begin later than July 28 and will be added to the vote count of 23-J.

In addition, there are seven more provinces where the vote of Spaniards residing abroad can change when their ballots are counted, although the possibilities are less because the difference between the affected parties is much greater.

This is the case specifically in Albacete (Vox needs to cut 1,287 votes from the PSOE), Castellón (Sumar has a disadvantage of 5,043 compared to Vox), Cuenca (PSOE can take a seat from the PP if it wins by 2,802 votes), Huesca (PSOE can take another from the PP with 5,664 extra votes), Las Palmas (Nueva Canarias can take a deputy from the PP with 3 008 votes), Lleida (PP can win another from the PSOE with 3,503) and Malaga (PSOE can take it from the PP with 3,047 votes).
