The President of the Government asks PP and Vox to rectify in Doñana

The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, is visiting the Doñana reserve this morning and has called on the Popular Party and Vox to "withdraw" the bill that the Andalusian Parliament is debating to legalize wells and illegal exploitation of this natural area.

The president underlined, in a speech without questions in the park itself, that “today we have once again learned of a resounding and emphatic position from the European Union. This position makes things abundantly clear: the bill of the PP and Vox contravenes European legislation. I ask for rectification. Return to the path of European legality and respect for the environment”

The president has criticized that both formations have made this decision as an electoral calculation. "No matter how much electoral majority is achieved, this is not about elections, this has to do with a legacy that we have received from our ancestors and our main responsibility is to pass it on to our sons and daughters."

“Pride will not save Doñana. What Doñana will save is to listen to the warnings of science -said Sánchez-. It will save you to comply with the law and with the sentences of the European courts”.

In this sense, he added that approving the regulations of the Andalusian community and legalizing these wells and their exploitations will imply a sanction from the European community that "all Spaniards will have to pay".
