The new Valencian authorities focus on the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Day

The new Valencian authorities that emerged from the regional and municipal elections went to Madrid this Thursday to attend their first National Day parade. Present at the event were the president of the Generalitat, the popular Carlos Mazón, and the president of the Corts Valencianes, Llanos Massó (from Vox), as well as the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá.

Until this year, the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, used to attend this commemorative parade on October 12, presided over by the Kings of Spain, but not the second authority of the Valencian Community - Enric Morera did not go in the eight years in which he held the Presidency. of the Valencian Parliament - nor the mayor of the main city of the Valencian Community between 2015 and 2023, Joan Ribó. The two leaders of Compromís chose not to attend the military parade. This is what the current president of Parliament has underlined on X (formerly Twitter).

Mazón has also used this social network to congratulate the date: "We are history, tourism, traditions, culture, art, sports, science... United in our diversity, we form a great country that inspires the world. Happy Hispanic Day. Happy day of the Virgin of Pilar". Mazón also took the opportunity to congratulate Mari Carmen Gómez from Elche for being the first woman to parachute with the flag during the National Holiday parade.

In a statement, the head of the Consell has highlighted the proximity of the National Holiday with the Day of the Valencian Community and has stressed that in the same week "we celebrate the pride of being Valencian, Alicante and Castellón, and Spanish." Likewise, he has highlighted “the loyalty of the Valencian Community to Spain” as well as “the commitment of Valencians to the cohesion and validity of the Spanish nation.”

For her part, the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, has stressed on the same social network that Spaniards have "an enviable country. A Spain rich in culture and history, and a language shared with millions of people."

Meanwhile, in the Valencian Community, the Government delegate in the Valencian Community. Pilar Bernabé, together with the chief general of the VI Zone, Arturo Prieto, has presided over the commemorative events for the day of the patron saint of the Civil Guard in El Puig.

Bernabé wanted to highlight the actions carried out by the Armed Institute in the fight against new types of crime. At this point, the delegate has pointed out that "technology and its challenges are the order of the day, online crimes continually challenge the Civil Guard." Thus, while in 2022 10,470 crimes related to cybercrime were recorded in the Valencian Community, from January to September 2023 there are already 13,864 crimes registered within the jurisdiction of the Civil Guard: an increase of 32.4%.

They are not the only events that have taken place this Thursday in Valencian territory. In City Councils that have changed their political color and with Vox in the Government, they wanted to commemorate this celebration. This morning in Torrent "the National Holiday was celebrated for the first time with the city's associations and the State security forces and bodies."

Also in Elx, an institutional event will be held this afternoon "for the first time on the Paseo de la Estación starting at 7:00 p.m.". In it, municipal sources explain, "we want to pay tribute to the flag, to all those who gave their lives for Spain and also to Miguel Ángel Blanco with the placement of a plaque with his name on one of the palm trees as approved in Local Government Board at the beginning of the legislature".
