Alejandro Fernández isolates himself from the noise: emphasis on management and end of the 'procés'

The noise that accompanies the final stretch of the campaigns, with the dance of the polls in full ferment, is not going to change the strategy that the PP candidate has followed. Alejandro Fernández has not detached himself from the speech in which he draws a clear dividing line with the “separatism” of Junts and ERC and with the PSC for “reviving” the process. And at the same time with the connection of this last decade with the economic and social decline of Catalonia.

Likewise, and despite the fact that the polls suggest that Vox is resisting - it obtained 11 seats in the Parliament -, which could eventually reduce electoral support for the PP, Alejandro Fernández has maintained, when asked about it in a press conference at the agency EFE, the usual discourse on immigration: “welcome those who come to work, and reject those who come to commit crimes.” He has not changed his tone when it comes to this border with Vox.

He has thus avoided entering into the precise considerations regarding the statements made by Alberto Núñez Feijóo on Tuesday in Cornellà, where he linked the occupations with illegal immigration, supported today by the general secretary, Cuca Gamarra.

"I do not propose the campaign based on the classic ideological axes - he said - but I am addressing Catalan society in general to talk about the management of the drought, education, security, to turn the page on the process, which is what he mostly defends.” This does not mean that his speech does not try to cover the maximum possible political space from the right to the center.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo will be in Catalonia on Thursday and Friday, where on Thursday he will present the European candidacy and therefore his speech will have various nuances. Likewise, there will be the Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno, and the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, with different records. Today, the Andalusian leader has supported the “sensible, serene and credible” project of the Catalan PP. And he has asked citizens of Andalusian origin in Catalonia to vote for the Popular Party.

Alejandro Fernández has commented that regardless of whether the electoral ranges may be somewhat lower or higher, what is clear is that the PP will have great growth -part of a meager result of 3 seats-. A growth that will mean, according to the candidate, that the campaign priorities “are well chosen and will not change.”

In this context, he has admitted that they may or may not have the key to governance depending on the forks. “If we are not decisive, we will be influential,” she asserted. A step - the second - that he also sees as important in what the consolidation of the project entails, and the look towards the future, with a "relevant role."
