The opinion study of the Valencian Community commissioned by the Valencian Government indicates that 47.1% of those surveyed rate the management being carried out by the regional Executive since it took office last July as “very good or good”. A percentage higher than the 39.6% who call this work “bad or very bad.” Even more support is achieved when this management is personified in the figure of the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, which rises to 49.1% (good or very good) compared to the 36.1% who qualify the performance of the head of the Consell de “bad or very bad.”
The field work of the sociological and public opinion study of the Valencian Community was carried out between November 23 and December 14, 2023, with a sample of 3,500 interviews and a margin of error of - 1.69%. The survey was carried out by the company Cotesa and had a cost of almost 45,000 euros. Sources from the Generalitat explained that this is a contract carried over from the previous legislature, although it seems evident that it was the current Government that has pointed out the issues being asked about: amnesty law, debt forgiveness to Catalonia or valuation of the debt accumulated by the previous executive.
Although the results do not leave the Valencian Government in a bad light, with a management rating level that is more positive than negative, it is striking that the results have not been made public and have simply been posted on the portal. of transparency of the Generalitat. In past editions, the content of the study was presented to the media by senior officials of the regional government.
There is only one of the questions whose result does not leave the new executive in such a good position. When asked about the confidence that Carlos Mazón inspires, 57.5% answer little or none compared to 35.9 who indicate a lot or quite a bit.
There is no direct question about voting intention but it does ask about “the party that you consider closest to your ideas.” 31.5% respond that the PP (the popular ones achieved 36% in the regional elections); the PSPV, 20.8% (29% in May); Commitments; 10.4% (14.7%); and Vox 9.8% (12.7%). It is also striking, now that there is speculation about what Sumar is going to do in the Valencian territory, that Yolanda Díaz's platform remains at 1.5%.
The popular ones are the strongest brand, as demonstrated by the fact that it is the party that, according to those surveyed, “best defends the interests of the Valencian Community”, “represents the ideas of the people”; “he inspires greater confidence,” “he has better leaders” and “he is better able to govern.” It is also notable that in all sections, except the last, Compromís is ahead of PSPV as the second party.
The survey also shows the support of Valencians for measures such as the elimination of the Inheritance and Donation Tax (74.4% consider it a good or very good measure) or the tax reliefs that 88.5% of those surveyed applaud. On the contrary, 67.4% disagree with the amnesty law and 75% with the forgiveness of the debt owed to Catalonia.
Finally, Valencians are at 5.2 on a scale where 1 is left and 10 is right and 60.9% consider themselves as Valencian as Spanish.
