Polling station hours in the Galician elections: Until what time can you vote?

This Sunday, February 18, elections will be held for the Parliament of Galicia from which the next president of the Xunta de Galicia must be elected. According to the polls, this will be either the current president, the popular Alfonso Rueda, if he achieves the absolute majority or the sum with Vox or Democracia Ourensana, or the candidate of the Galician National Block (BNG), Ana Pontón, with the support of the PSOE of José Ramíon Gómez Besteiro (PSOE) and Sumar or Podemos if they obtain parliamentary representation.

Citizens will be able to start voting at 9 a.m., when the polling stations will open their doors. Voting day will be extended until 8 p.m. It will be then that the doors of the schools will close and the counting of the votes will begin.

A total of 2,693,624 citizens are called to the polls, including 17.7% who reside abroad, all of them registered in the electoral census of Galicia, accessible online at the Electronic Headquarters of the National Institute of Statistics through the Cl system @go. To be registered you must be registered in one of the provinces of Galicia and be of legal age (18 years). 79,072 citizens will have the opportunity to participate for the first time in elections to the Parliament of Galicia.

To vote, voters must identify themselves using one of the following options: ID, passport or driver's license. Any of them must contain the photograph of the owner and must be presented in their original format; photocopies will not be accepted.

You can only vote at the polling station and the table that corresponds to each voter (you must look at the census card that the Electoral Census Office sent to the homes). They can do it from 9 a.m. in the morning. Even so, the schools will open earlier for the constitution of the tables with the presence of the president and the designated members and the auditors and representatives of the political formations.

Citizens will have time to cast their vote until 8 p.m., when all voting stations will close. If at that time there are still people who want to vote and have not done so, the table will allow their vote. Next, the scrutiny will begin.
