Pilar Alegría continues in Education and will be the new spokesperson for the Government

Pilar Alegría (Zaragoza, 1977) adds to her Ministry of Education the Sports responsibilities that until now fell to Culture and will also replace Isabel Rodríguez as spokesperson for the new Government of Pedro Sánchez.

With this change, if there is no remodeling of the PSOE executive, Alegría will combine her role as spokesperson for the party, which she assumed in July 2022 when she replaced Felipe Sicilia, with the spokesperson for the Executive.

Pilar Alegría was appointed head of the PSOE list for the province of Zaragoza in the general elections called on July 23, 2023.

When she arrived in the previous Sánchez government, in July 2021, Alegría replaced Isabel Celáa in Education and Professional Training. Until then she was a Government delegate in Aragon.

At the time she positioned herself in favor of Pedro Sánchez against the president of her party in Aragon, the former regional president Javier Lambán, which removed her from the Cortes.

She has a diploma in Teaching, specialized in Primary Education from the University of Zaragoza, and has a Master's Degree in Advanced Studies in Social Education from the Complutense University.

Born in 1977, between 2015 and 2019 she was Minister of Innovation, Research and University of the Government of Aragon, "working especially on the expansion of scholarships and university aid, the extension of broadband in the territory and achieving a Pact for Science, among all the political groups of Aragon, the scientific community and social agents," reads its profile in the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function.

Another no less important was the agreement in March 2016 for the financing of the University of Zaragoza, for which it would receive 780 million euros in the period 2016-2020.

Before occupying the Government delegation, she was a deputy for Zaragoza in Congress between 2008 and 2015. She also held positions in the Federal Executive of the PSOE between 2008 and 2012. Likewise, she was spokesperson for the PSOE in the Zaragoza City Council between July from 2019 to February 2020.

Alegría is the mother of one son.
