New purpose: the inner journey

The official fashion of "keep complaining" and "insist on it tomorrow" has taken hold in private enterprise in a widespread way, as if in business schools the customer service module has been replaced by a about the strategy to dodge it. Low cost companies started to put it into practice, but – perhaps out of sympathy – no one bothers to be competitive by means of the quality of service anymore. And by quality we mean the desire not to waste time.

Understand this: no one will get any younger this 2024. And it's not that age makes us more impatient, we simply obey the impulse not to waste our lives in useless management and peregrine discussions. And this also applies to labor relations.

In the end, the system has managed to get the user to make the lively decision to skip everything and concentrate on the inner journey. Neither stick nor carrot; is over. Among the New Year's resolutions, the one of not needing anything from anyone who is not willing to facilitate it is climbing up the ranks. And for this Zen path, it is enough to make a broad calculation, putting on one side the costs of requiring and, on the other, those of doing without.

In the first column, don't forget to write down the opponent's strategy. For example: if an airline considers that it makes more sense to pay for luggage loss insurance than to hire a lost property service, it is because it is inviting you to waive checking in your luggage. And when you've gotten used to stuffing your belongings into a suitcase that fits in the cabin, he'll charge you for it the equivalent of the seat or more, in the style of Mortadel·lo and Filemó's Caso del bacalao, in which some smart, they sell cod to a duro and then burst the town's pipes to make money selling water. Ultimately, you either take the game and pay painlessly or you refuse to fly, even if it involves taking improbable steps.

When you are young and there is still a long way to go before 2024, vehemence sometimes leads to the second option. But over time you discover that a good trip is what allows you to get to know yourself better and decide, accordingly, what your new goals should be. An expedition that can be carried out with a good book, in your own room.
