Murder of a man by a shot to the head in a Poble Sec premises

The large police operation that the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Urban Guard deployed this week against a network of narco-flats in the Raval is the backdrop to the cruel murder that was committed on Sunday morning in a bar in Barcelona. A 32-year-old man, of Dominican nationality, who was inside a Latin restaurant on Calle Blai, in Poble Sec, was executed by a gunman with a shot to the head.

The perpetrator entered the establishment, opened fire on the victim and quickly fled at the wheel of a motorcycle. Several witnesses witnessed the events and recorded videos of the motorcyclist's escape, which have been provided to the police. The Mossos have opened an investigation to find the suspect and the first hypothesis points to the fact that it is a revenge of a group of Dominicans that controls the network of narcopisos in the Raval for this week's police operation. As if this mafia held the victim responsible for having made a noise about the existence of the drug floors or had provided some type of information to the authorities. It is also not ruled out that this is a warning from this group to its own members that betrayal is very expensive.

Yesterday, the Mossos looked for witnesses who had witnessed the events and reviewed the recordings of the security cameras of the premises on Calle Blai in order to be able to identify the author of the shots. This road is a small avenue for pedestrians in the Poble Sec neighborhood where restaurants and bars abound, with the help of which the agents hope to find images that will allow them to identify the suspect.

This week the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Urban Guard carried out a major police crackdown on the Dominican narcopisos mafia, which has been controlling the sale of drugs in the neighborhood for years and has set up shop in vacant apartments that are used as warehouses and to consume drugs inside. The device resulted in the arrest of nineteen people and eleven entries and records, in one of the most important operations of the last year against this phenomenon that proliferated greatly in 2020 and against which the Catalan police deployed the 'operation Bacar, also against a group of Dominican traffickers.

This, however, was not the only violent death of the Christmas weekend. In Santa Coloma de Gramenet, a man died after being stabbed in a children's park in the town, specifically the children's park in Passeig de la Salzereda, at the height of Carrer Francesc Moragas. The events happened at around 9.23pm on Saturday when two men got into an argument that ended with one of them stabbing him. The author voluntarily presented himself at a Mossos d'Esquadra police station.

A pedestrian who witnessed the homicide immediately called 112 to report that one man had stabbed another. The witness followed the steps of the murderer from afar and was communicating everything he saw. After committing the crime, the perpetrator got rid of the knife by throwing it into some bushes and then washed his hands in a public fountain. He then presented himself at the police station in Sant Andreu, in Barcelona, where he confessed to the events. The officers who took his statement corroborated the verisimilitude of his story and also verified that the accused had blood on his hands and arrested him. The victim was treated by the emergency services and ended up dying at the Germans Trias i Pujol hospital in Badalona. The Mossos recovered the murder weapon and contacted the witness who called 911 to come to the police station and give a statement.
