Maragall files a complaint for pejorative posters about his brother's Alzheimer's

Ernest Maragall denounces before the Mossos the posters, which they placed in three ERC headquarters and in some places in the city of Barcelona, which made fun of his brother, Pasqual Maragall's Alzheimer's.

As reported by the newspaper Ara and RAC1, the mayoral candidate has filed the complaint in a personal capacity and not through the party in which he is a member.

The posters showed an old photograph of Pasqual Maragall in the foreground and a recent one of Ernest Maragall along with the phrase "Alzheimer's out of Barcelona" repeated with various typefaces. Not only did they appear at the ERC headquarters, but they had also put up posters of the same type on some trees in the Les Corts neighborhood, in Plaza Catalunya next to the Aerobús stop and also in Plaza Espanya.

In fact, this Sunday morning the posters still remained in Plaza Espanya, despite the fact that they were placed on Wednesday night and that the City Council demanded that they be removed on Thursday morning.

As reported by the newspaper Ara and RAC1, in the complaint, which only includes Maragall's statement, it is explained that there were witnesses who reproached the men who hung the posters in one of the party offices. However, the complaint is not directed against anyone in particular, but rather against the act itself.

Both the Mossos, who are investigating the case, and the Urban Police, are examining the images from the security cameras of the ERC headquarters on Calle Calàbria, as well as those of neighboring businesses. The Mossos have declared that the investigation is directed by the Central Unit for Hate Crimes and Discrimination.

The Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, and the leaders of the municipal groups have expressed their solidarity with Pasqual Maragall and have unanimously condemned this anonymous campaign.
