Felip Puig responds to Villarejo's accusations: "To think that he could send information to the CNI is surreal"

The former Minister of the Interior of the Government of the Generalitat, Felip Puig, wanted to respond to the serious accusations of former commissioner José Manuel Villarejo, who assured this Monday in an interview in El Món to RAC1 that the politician was one of the sources of the CNI to plan Operation Catalunya.

"To think that I could send information to the CNI is surreal. I absolutely deny it," he said before the microphones of the same station, this time for the program I don't know. And he added: "I have never had any meeting with this man, I have never met him nor have we sent each other WhatsApp messages. If I had a recorded conversation they would have already left."

Puig has thus responded to the statements that Villarejo made during the face to face with the former president of the Generalitat Artur Mas on the RAC1 radio station, coinciding with the sixth anniversary of the 1-O referendum.

"I had several interviews with Joan Piqué Vidal or Felip Puig, the then Minister of the Interior. More than anything, he gave me information about Xavier Martorell, who was one of his main enemies," said the former commissioner about Martorell, then a senior official in the Department of Interior. Inside.

Villarejo said that the information for the Catalunya operation was obtained "from people very close to the Generalitat or from people very close to the Pujol family", and, specifically, he mentioned Puig.

The former minister has said that "Villarejo only wants to create news to be in the showcase" and has spoken of the good relationship he maintains with one of the senior Interior officials.

Puig has also assured that he is studying with his lawyer to file some judicial initiative. "On other occasions false accusations had already come out but the complaints were unsuccessful."

"My long political career has been possible because I always maintained absolute loyalty to President Pujol and President Mas," he clarified. In addition, the former councilor would have spoken with Artur Mas, who would have conveyed his full support.
