This Wednesday the candidacies for the regional elections in Galicia scheduled for next February 18 are published. The polling stations will open 54 days after the electoral decree was published in the Official Gazette of Galicia, on December 26, in response to the call for early regional elections that the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, announced five days before.
The first step after the publication of the electoral decree was the opening of the deadline to request a vote by mail on December 26, which will remain until February 8. Correos will send the necessary documentation starting January 29, and the last day to deliver the ballot in this format will be February 14.
The second point is the candidatures that are published this Wednesday. The deadline to present the coalitions ended on January 5, while the period for presenting candidacies began on January 10, and closed last Monday. The proclamation of the candidates will take place on January 22.
Before reaching these elections, there is a calendar marked with all the steps to be followed by the candidates:
January 17: publication of the submitted candidacies
January 22: proclamation of the candidates
January 29: sending of documentation to vote by mail
February 2: start of the electoral campaign
February 8: deadline to request a vote by mail
February 12: deadline for the publication of electoral surveys
February 14: deadline to submit the vote by mail

In any case, none of the candidates will be able to request a vote until February 2, the starting line of the electoral campaign, which will end on the 16th of the same month. That same Monday, February 12, the deadline for the publication of electoral surveys will close. The day of reflection will continue on the 17th, until February 18, when the polling stations will open to celebrate the regional elections in Galicia.
The 75 seats of the XII Galician legislature will be distributed among the provinces with 14 deputies for Lugo, 14 for Ourense, 22 in Pontevedra and 25 in A Coruña. The constitution of Parliament will take place within one month from the day of the elections.
