Carla Quílez, the young talent

She has just turned 15 and has already demonstrated her talent as an actress with just one film, The Maternal. In September, Barcelona's Carla Quílez won the Concha de Plata for the best female performance in Sant Sebastià and the breakthrough actress prize at the Gaudí. On Sunday she started her second project, a series about which she cannot give details, but she says that she will have a main role that has nothing to do with the one she played in La maternal and that will keep her busy for six months between Asturias (the first four weeks) and Barcelona. The shoot will have to be combined with his third year ESO studies, which he attends at a high school in the Guinardó district and with the help of a private teacher.

Carla has a chat with La Vanguardia a few hours before traveling to Asturias. As a prize for winning the Gaudí, Quílez has become an ambassador for La Roca Village throughout the year. "I'm not very into fashion, but I like to choose looks and be aware of what's being worn - comments Carla Quílez-. I would define my style as urban. I like oversized clothes because they are more comfortable for dancing." Her great passion is dancing, which she started at the age of 6 with the dream of becoming a hip-hop dancer and accompanying reggaeton singers on stage, or in musicals: "Dancing is my way to express myself I feel free and if I've had a bad day, dancing makes me forget everything and it's as if it heals me. It's my comfort zone."

She created her account on Instagram just over two years ago, to upload her dances, and that's where she was discovered by the casting team of La maternal, Pilar Palomero's second film. "It was something unexpected and I took it with great excitement." Her success has made her a celebrity, but she says she remains "the same Carla from the neighborhood and from the high school, close and natural, even though I now know that I have a certain responsibility. People ask me, but more out of curiosity than interest, because they are shocked that a girl they have known all her life is now working as an actress and is experiencing all this".

Carla has attended many galas, won awards, walked many red carpets and met many stars: “I loved meeting Carmen Maura. I was chatting with her and she gave me very good advice. It gave me a very female feeling. He told me to be sure where I was getting into, because it's a very complicated career with many ups and downs, but that if it's really what I like, then I should go to all of them, and that if I can pass as much time as possible with my mother, so even better", reveals Carla Quílez.

“She and my family tell me to keep my feet on the ground and I trust that it will be so. My family helps me to continue with my life and to combine it with acting", he expresses.

Carla herself controls her Instagram where she has more than 26,000 followers. "It's something I started and I'd like to continue wearing as long as I can," he says. Over time she has learned to relativize negative criticism: "There was a time when I collapsed because of some attacks on my dancing, it was before I was an actress, but now I look at myself and if people don't like me ...”

"It was a big wall that I had to break down, because at La Maternal my teeth look bad, it's a hereditary thing and when I found out that I could pay for it myself without my family having to invest in it the money, so I did it, because I know that if I want to dedicate myself to this, then the image makes a mark".

At the moment, the most immediate future of Carla Quílez is this filming that has just started and about which more details will be revealed in about a month. Also finish Compulsory Secondary Education in a year, and then "we'll see, because it will depend on the situation I'm in at that time", he says.
