Azcón: "We will be the most important technological hub in southern Europe"

To be "the most important technological pole in southern Europe". This is one of the main objectives outlined yesterday by the president of Aragon, the popular Jorge Azcón, for the future of the community he has governed since the summer with the support of Vox. For this reason, it aims to attract large companies such as Amazon or Microsoft, which have already announced investments of "billions of euros" in the community for their new data centers,

As he explained at the Círculo Ecuestre de Barcelona, where he opened the Presidents colloquium cycle, these companies have arrived in the Aragonese community attracted by their good connections or a lower cost of energy, as a result of their high production capacity of renewables. In this sense, he defended its application as a "differentiating element" for the development of the region, although he recognized the need for it to be done in an orderly manner. "The big challenge we have is that the energy we produce is consumed in the community", he added.

It was not the only economic point of the talk, presented by the president of the Círculo Ecuestre, Enrique Lacalle. From his first budget, Azcón highlighted the increase of more than 10% in social spending and a "moderate" tax cut, which includes the deflation of personal income tax or the reductions in inheritance, donation or heritage "There is still a long way to go", pointed out the popular, who during the campaign described Aragon as a "fiscal hell".

In addition to standing up for the arrival of new investments, Azcón emphasized the importance of achieving the installation of the Stellantis battery gigafactory, which was not satisfied with the last distribution of Perte funds for the electric vehicle . "It is absolutely necessary for the central government to help, as it already did in Sagunto or Extremadura", he said.

He was more combative regarding the amnesty law, which he described as "the most serious attack in history on our democracy". As he said, "terrorists, coup plotters and pro-independence" have previously carried out "attempted" attacks against the system, attacks that "will be consummated today" with the approval of a law "that is not in line with the Constitution" .

Azcón was also very critical of Pedro Sánchez. He accused him of "building a wall" and not governing for all Spaniards. This, added to the fact that he will "deceive his partners", and the economic situation, will result in a "short" legislature, he predicted. He also does not approve the forgiveness of 20% of the debt in Catalonia agreed before the investiture, despite the fact that it could also benefit Aragon, since he believes that it is something that should be agreed between all the communities in the Fiscal Policy Council and Financial "I don't want the people of Aragon to be more than anyone else, but we are not prepared to be less either", he assured.

Mayor of Zaragoza in the previous legislature, Azcón acknowledged that he preferred to have governed alone, but that in the end there was no other option than to agree with Vox. "At the moment, things are working in a reasonable way", he asserted.

The popular also defended the proposal to repeal the Democratic Memory law presented with its far-right partners on the 20th and which will be debated in the Aragonese Courts this week. "The transition was exemplary, and the partisan instrumentalization that has been made [of this law] does not respond to what the people want", he concluded.

Regarding relations with Catalonia and its president, Pere Aragonès, he assured that he hopes to be able to resolve the conflicts through dialogue. "But I don't see him very willing", he concluded...
