A court condemns the former mayor of Sabadell for disobedience in the 1-0

Sabadell Criminal Court 1 has sentenced the former mayor of Sabadell to four months of disqualification and a fine of 1,800 euros after being declared "criminally responsible for a crime of serious disobedience" for the events that occurred on 1-0 in Catalonia.

Maties Serracant was mayor of the city of Sabadell when the 1-0 referendum was held in Catalonia. The former mayor affirmed last April in court that he could not do anything to prevent his celebration in Sabadell, since he declared that he was "beyond" his abilities as mayor.

The request of the Prosecutor's Office amounted to two years of disqualification in addition to a fine of 15,000 euros for disobeying the instructions of the courts to prevent the holding of the referendum.
