Optimism in Compromís for the pact with Sumar: "There will be an agreement without vetoes"

There has barely been a meeting to make contact, but in Compromís they are optimistic: "Yes, we will reach an agreement with Sumar." Although it does not seem easy, the Valencian coalition is convinced -after the first official contacts with Yolanda Díaz's movement- that in the next general elections, Sumar and Compromís will be on the same ballot.

In that same one, it is expected that Podemos will also be there, in addition to Esquerra Unida (which is already understood to be integrated into the Díaz brand). However, the integration of the purple ones already depends on the agreement that Podemos and Sumar reach in negotiation at the state level. Podem has already sent its preferences to Madrid.

These are two parallel negotiations since Compromís does not negotiate with the parties with which it competed in the last campaign of the municipal and regional elections. However, sources from the formation reiterate that "they will not veto anyone" or parties or people. Thus, the candidates proposed by Podemos and Sumar will not have any obstacles to being on the general list. Likewise, Compromís will have a free hand to choose their names. The option of independents that give added value to the brand cannot be ruled out.

The idea of the Valencian supporters is to agree with Sumar on the electoral program (there the demand for a new financing model is key), how the payment of campaign financing is distributed, the structure of the list, the name that will appear on the ballots and who legalizes the candidacy. Later, they understand that the positions that Sumar reserves will be decided by the second vice president of the Government whether to hand them over to other parties or keep them to propose their own names.

You are compromising part of a position of strength now that his political rivals have been left without representation in Les Corts Valencianes and Sumar has no structure in the territory. Despite this, the requirement to top the three lists (Valencia, Alicante and Castellón) is not guaranteed.

Next week the term to close the agreement closes. Then, Compromís will have to decide which candidates it proposes. The entourage of the Valencia councilor Pere Fuset has already launched the name of the mayor of Festive Culture, while the still regional Secretary of Employment, Enric Nomdedéu, is considering the option of presenting himself for Castellón, although he has not yet made a decision. All in all, the big question is what the former Minister of Education, Vicent Marzà, whose name has always sounded in the pools, will do.

All of them are members of Més Compromís, the majority party in the coalition. "Some seem to be in a great hurry", they point out in Initiative, which will not stop demanding, when the pact is already closed with Yolanda Díaz, that the plurality of Compromís be respected and that one party not monopolize all the prominence on the lists. But, that will be another (also complicated) negotiation.
