The contest, which awards its prizes based on the preferences expressed by travelers, has reached its fourteenth edition with a notable success of participation.
For 21 days -between January 20 and February 10-, the entity invited Internet users from all over the world to express their preferences by voting online among a list made up of more than 400 locations. In total, nearly 700,000 travelers from 178 countries around the world participated, which made it possible to draw up a final ranking of 20 ideal towns and cities to visit in 2023, a year that is expected to be positive for the tourism sector.
Without going any further, a study prepared based on the opinion of ACAVE associates, the main employer in the travel agency sector in Spain, indicates that 60% of those consulted anticipate an increase in reservations until December that could fluctuate between 5% and 15% compared to 2022. One of the handicaps will be inflation, a factor that, according to the Kayak travel search engine, has already increased flight prices for this summer by 37%.
The result of the European Best Destination voting has drawn a very inspiring top 20, made up of diverse localities, among which are proposals for city breaks, nature and beach breaks, with Warsaw at the forefront, which has become the Best European Destination. to visit in 2023. The capital of Poland, considered one of the safest urban getaways on the continent, is affordable for the Spanish pocket. He is accompanied on the podium by Athens and Maribor, a city in Slovenia not so well known but no less interesting for that.
This year's edition has awarded three Spanish locations, which have earned the right to use the title of European Best Destinations 2023 in their promotions. It is about Toledo, the capital of Castilla-La Mancha; Tossa de Mar, a delicious fishing village in Girona, and Sóller, a corner of the island of Mallorca that is well worth a trip.
