The man was investigated after the disappearance of Malén because the young woman was last seen in an area very close to a booth where the suspect spent long periods of time. The investigators thought that he could be the author of the disappearance since they found that he had a fixation on young people on scooters. Precisely Malén Ortiz was with his family the day he disappeared.
The suspect had also been investigated for harassing two other minors who, like Malén, were riding a scooter. A neighbor who was passing through the area helped the girls in the face of the man's harassment. She also has evidence of bullying a minor on Facebook and naked photos of minors were found on her computer.
All these circumstances led investigators to suspect that there could be a clear relationship with the disappearance, but no conclusion was reached as no evidence of any kind was found. The case has now undergone a turn after the confession of the suspect, hence the plot near the point where Malén disappeared was combed again.
The man lived in a hotel near the booth that he frequented every day. He had returned to Spain from the United States, where he claimed that he had been a representative of famous actors, something that is in doubt given his mental illness, although photographs were found in the booth in which he posed with famous Hollywood actors from the 80s.
It is not known if he was indeed his representative or if the meetings were casual. He claimed to have been a voice actor and even boasted of organizing a golf tournament with the presence of actor Sean Connery and also claimed that he was an organizer of model shows with minors.
