The advance of the flames of the Tenerife fire has forced new evacuations early this Saturday. Specifically, the authorities have issued new evacuation orders that affect new towns in La Orotava and in San Antonio and La Resbala, in La Matanza, from the San Cristóbal highway to the mountains.
According to the latest figures, the fire that started on the night of Tuesday, August 15, has already burned some 5,000 hectares until this morning and has spread to 10 municipalities.
In this way, the perimeter that it covers is at least 50 kilometers in the municipalities of Arafo, Candelaria, El Rosario, La Orotava, Santa Úrsula, La Victoria, El Sauzal, Tacoronte, La Matanza and Guímar, affecting forest mass (pine forest), mostly in the mount of La Esperanza and the forest crown.
At the end of this Friday, the evacuation of Las Dehesas, Los Pelados and Las Coloradas, as well as the Meteorological Observatory and the Astrophysical Institute of the Canary Islands, in Izaña, had been decided. The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, indicated this Friday that the fire is evolving as planned but remains uncontrolled.
