Queen Sofía presents the Mapfre Foundation Social Awards

This Tuesday, October 10, the MAPFRE Foundation presented its Social Awards, which aim to recognize the work and dedication of people and projects that generate positive changes and contribute to making the world a better place.

Among those attending the gala, chaired by Her Majesty Queen Sofía, were other personalities such as Cándido Conde-Pumpido, president of the Constitutional Court; Vicente Guilarte, president of the CGPJ; Milagros Paniagua, general secretary of Objectives and Policies of Inclusion and Social Security; as well as Antonio Huertas, president of MAPFRE and its Foundation.

Among the winners, the driver, two-time world rally champion and three-time Dakar champion, Carlos Saiz, was awarded for his active involvement with different entities and foundations related to humanity and solidarity.

On the other hand, the Madrid Fire Department received the award for Best Project for its Social Impact from the MAPRE Foundation on behalf of its Suicide Attempt Intervention Unit (ITS), which has carried out around 350 interventions each year since its creation.

Likewise, the BrazilFoundation, since its 23 years of history, has strengthened and empowered more than 850 civil society organizations that fight for socioeconomic, environmental and racial equality, has invested more than 45 million dollars, and has helped more than 120,000 people. This entity was awarded as the Best Entity for its Social Career.

In addition to the above, the MAPFRE Foundation has awarded Pilar González de Frutos the 11th Julio Castelo Matrán International Insurance Award, which recognizes scientific work and innovative projects that contribute to extending insurance activity in society. Pilar González de Frutos, who has dedicated 43 years to working in the insurance sector, in different institutional positions, “we have the responsibility of finding formulas that combine the sustainability of our welfare state with its medium and long-term financing and with the necessary intergenerational equity" and has indicated that he trusts that this award will inspire the reform of the Spanish social security system, 'which is more urgent every day'."

In the edition of these awards, whose global endowment is 120,000 euros, Fundación MAPFRE has received a total of 1,312 candidatures, from Europe, the United States, Latin America, Africa and Asia.
