A free content platform in Catalan that positions the local audiovisual in the digital ecosystem according to new consumption habits. And with an offer that allows access to live programming from more than 30 local channels and various thematic content.
These are the words of the jury of the Radio Association Awards, which has awarded the Innovation award to the La Xarxa platform.
Most of the podcasts are produced by local radio stations. The platform currently offers 250 podcasts, most of which are well-established weekly programs on local Catalan radio stations. that revolve around eight themes: History, Music, What world do we want?, Territory, Manga and Series, Language, Radio drama and Radio.
Catalonia has a large network of local television and radio stations that have made a great effort to modernize and promote innovation. It was still pending to make the leap to content distribution through an OTT (over-the-top) platform and adapt to the new comparable distribution models of the global audiovisual industry. This is already possible thanks to La Xarxa, promoted by the XAL and the local audiovisual sector.
The solidity of the project has been recognized with a grant of 625,000 euros from the Next Generation EU funds for the creation of digital ecosystems in the audiovisual sector.
Since its premiere last February, La Xarxa has distributed more than 12,000 hours of local original content, including live broadcasts from 30 local television channels, video content, and podcasts. Currently, the catalog has more than 2,500 videos and 250 podcasts.
The podcasts with the largest number of listeners on La Xarxa are Jazz Club, Moments d'opera, A les portes de Troia, Valors a l'alça, Collectives en Network, Históries de Barcelona, This goes serial, Espai Z, Radio stories and Som Terra.

According to the Catalan Radio Association (ACR) and the Report on the radio sector in Catalonia 2007-2021 prepared with data from the General Media Study (EGM), podcast consumption has grown by 169% during this period.
And the Network wants to contribute to consolidating and contributing to this exponential growth of the sector, now with a project reinforced by the prestige of a Radio Association award for innovation.
