The Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Civil Guard has identified and opened an investigation into eight young people, seven of them minors, for causing a forest fire in the San Juan reservoir, in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, with a hookah. .

The events occurred on July 24 in the so-called Shark Cove of the swamp, an area of ​​complex orography.

The rapid action of the firefighters of the Community of Madrid and the aerial means of extinguishing prevented the spread of the fire, which finally affected some 25 square meters of holm oak and vegetation.

In the visual inspection carried out by the Civil Guard agents, a hookah, remains of carbon pellets, lighters and a stove were located, elements that were at the source of the fire.

After collecting the testimonies of witnesses in the area, Seprona identified and opened an investigation into eight young people, seven 17-year-olds and one 18-year-old, for the alleged reckless commission of a forest fire crime.
