Headstones reportedly knocked over at Jewish cemetery in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA -- New Jersey resident Aaron Mallin told 6ABC that he traveled to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Sunday to visit his father's grave, but was met with a sad sight.

Dozens or maybe hundreds of gravestones at the Jewish cemetery had been overturned or broken, the news station reported.

The discovery comes a week after over 150 headstones at a Jewish cemetery in Missouri had been broken and pushed over.

As in that case, police have not said whether the incident in Philadelphia is being investigated as an act of anti-Semitism, according to 6abc.

In the last month, 65 bomb threats called into Jewish community centers across the country, including some in New Jersey.

President Donald J. Trump denounced the threats Tuesday, after twice rebuffing reporters who had asked him earlier to comment on the issue.
