"Today we are in mourning. We have to mourn the unexpected and sudden death of Gonzalo Romero, Juvenil A goalkeeper. We are heartbroken and full of pain," announced the Cadiz entity.

Sporting Chiclana wanted to send a message of support to Romero's relatives: "We join the pain of his family and friends. Always in our hearts, Gonzalo."

The desolation over the news has also reached the ranks of Huétor Tájar (Granada), the club in the town where he was born. "Without words or strength to write the harshest lines in our history," they point out through their X account (formerly Twitter).

"Our Great goalkeeper and best person, Gonzalo Romero, died yesterday at the age of 18. He leaves us with a wound that we can hardly close," they continue from the Nasrid entity.
