Freedom with charges for the drama teacher arrested for alleged sexual abuse in Reus

The Investigation Court 2 of Reus (Tarragona) has agreed to the release with charges for the theater teacher arrested for allegedly sexually abusing 22 young people from the town.

In a statement, the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has explained that the magistrate has also imposed precautionary measures of restraining order and prohibition of communication with the victims.

Likewise, they have assured that the person under investigation has accepted his right not to testify and that the case is open for 11 alleged crimes of sexual harassment and two of sexual assault.

The defendant allegedly committed the acts "mostly" last year, when the victims were minors, while today they have reached the age of majority.

The director of the school, Maite Buenafuente, explained in statements to the media that, at the time they learned of the facts, "the necessary measures were taken and the teacher was expelled from the center."

Buenafuente said that the center denounced the events before the Mossos d'Esquadra and that the victims, "always supported by the school management", took a statement before the authorities conducting the investigation.
