During the last hours of this Thursday, Maritime Rescue has rescued three canoes with 377 people in waters near the islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center of 112 of the Canary Islands and the institutional entity.

The sea rescuers Alpheratz and Menkalinan accompanied two canoes to the port of Los Cristianos, in Tenerife, with 319 people of sub-Saharan origin on board. Once at the dock, the health devices in the area, made up of personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), Primary Care and the Red Cross, attended to the migrants, four of them being transferred to health centers for moderate pathologies.

Likewise, the salvamar Macondo accompanied another boat located in waters near Gran Canaria, in which there were 58 migrants, and once at the Arguineguín dock, in Mogán, they were assisted by the health device in the area, all of them being in good condition in general.

The numbers of immigrants arriving on the Canary Islands are beginning to be notable. Only during the month of January, 7,270 people arrived in boats and cayucos, seven more people than during the entire first half of 2023, according to data from the Ministry of the Interior.
