Yes, Coca-Cola tastes different in a can than in a glass bottle: here's why, according to a food engineer

Coca-Cola lovers think they know everything about their favorite drink, but that's not always the case. Many have wondered what ingredient makes this soft drink so irresistible. And others are not aware that its flavor will not be the same if they do not drink it in a glass bottle, the container that most respects the original recipe.

This is according to food engineer Montse Meléndez, who shares relevant information about any culinary issue through her TikTok account.

"Yes, Coca-Cola in glass tastes better," he explains in one of his videos. Meléndez details that it is a material that maintains the flavor of neutral foods. Therefore, when a user drinks the drink in this container, they are approaching the "original recipe."

When the soft drink is in a plastic bottle, it may taste "sweeter": "One of the materials is acetaldehyde, which ends up transferring to the drink and that makes it have a sweeter flavor."

On the other hand, Meléndez continues, when we drink Coca-Cola in a can, we have to know that it will taste less sweet. "This is because aluminum cans have a polymer inside, which slightly absorbs the sweetness of the soft drink," he continues.

Beyond the reasons given by this food engineer, her followers agree with her: "There is nothing better than a cold glass of Coca-Cola." However, others disagree. "It tastes better to me in a can," they claim.
