These are the best materials to thermally insulate a home

Good thermal insulation provides a pleasant temperature inside the home all year round and helps reduce heating and air conditioning consumption in the long term. There are natural and artificial materials that prevent the transfer of heat energy, thanks to the encapsulated air contained in their fibers. This characteristic means that all of these materials have a low thermal conductivity, which is why they help retain the interior temperature in winter and resist heat ingress in summer.

Both for the construction of new independent homes, and during the renovation of an apartment, developers must know all these materials and pay attention to their possibilities.

In independent houses it is possible to completely cover the exterior elements, including the roof and foundation. A determining factor for correct insulation is found not so much in the thermal conductivity of the materials, but in their thickness, since up to 10 centimeters of insulating chamber can be placed, and in the rigidity of the panels. The façade cladding must be completed with the application of a sprayed mortar, or with the placement of stone plates or other beautifying materials.

The main drawback when insulating a floor during a renovation is due to the existence of structural elements, such as partitions and columns, which make a continuous and uniform coating difficult. However, interior insulation is cheaper and very necessary in the case of old floors, in which the majority of the insulating chamber is air. A simple option is to make several holes with a drill on the inside of the façade to blow in polyurethane foam or cellulose until the air chamber is filled. On the other hand, the most effective solution is to remake the interior leaf of the façade with the placement of panels that prevent leaks and heat leaks.
