The sad case of Maru, the dog who traveled more than 200 km to return to the family that rejected her

Dogs are extremely intelligent animals, as well as excellent companions. This has been demonstrated by a Bullmastiff in Russia, who has been able to travel 200 kilometers alone to reach her family, who had rejected her.

Maru, the dog in question, crossed Siberian forests, dodging bears and wolves as she tried to return to her owners, once again showing the loyalty of these incredible four-legged animals.

As La Repubblica points out, Maru had been boarded on the Trans-Siberian train with the aim of returning to the kennel where she was born. Apparently, the allergy suffered by her owner was quite an impediment, so she could not take in the Bullmastiff.

However, Maru did not accept his fate. The dog managed to escape from the train, opening the door to her compartment and exiting the carriage when the train stopped at a remote station. Even though the staff on board tried to catch her, she Maru was faster.

Two days after his escape, the dog was found in an industrial area near his former owner's house. Maru was sad and hurt, as she had traveled a whopping 200 kilometers on her own.

Maru is thought to have fallen from a railway embankment in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, before being found. Likewise, train staff claim that the dog suffered a panic attack due to the noise of the train and the distance from her house. Maru's former owner did not participate in the search for her, so the dog has returned to her original kennel with the aim of looking for a new home.
