The campaign of a restaurant that mocks Barça when promoting its new sushi place in Barcelona

Sibuya, considered the best sushi chain in Spain, has just opened its 53rd restaurant in the country in Barcelona. To promote it they have carried out an advertising campaign that has not left anyone indifferent. Also published on the social networks of Putos Modernos, the collective born in 2005 that is dedicated to “creating objects, ideas and plans to survive modern life”, as indicated on its website, one of the posters hanging in the City Condal is a taunt to FC Barcelona.

“We have been waiting for years to open in Barcelona, the city of football. Damn it, we should have opened in Girona,” says the poster, in reference to the “bad results” that the Barça club has accumulated in LaLiga, where they are third, eight points behind the leader, neither more nor less than Girona; in addition to having been eliminated from the Copa del Rey.

To promote the new urban sushi bar, located at 60 Enric Granados Street, they have also hung more posters with controversial phrases. “We are the best-rated sushi chain in Spain. When you say 'sushi' and ask for cutlery we know how to stay calm", or "The other day we heard one of our waiters making jokes like 'What a sake you have' or 'I'll be happy to bring you desserts'. Great ex-waiter”, are some of the texts that make up these posters.

On Instagram they have compiled images of the posters they have hung in the city of Barcelona to promote the new restaurant, and not only has Barça been the target of their acid humor in this campaign but also the 100 montaditos restaurant chain. "Taking a hundred montaditos to a first date to eat is for people who are too self-confident. For the rest, Sibuya."

In the publication, which has accumulated more than 15,600 likes and 174 comments, the message left by the indicated establishment stands out. "Self-confident people: we are waiting for you," they wrote from 100 montaditos, accompanying the message with the emoticon of a purple imp. This response generated reactions among Internet users, alleging that a war was breaking out between both restaurant chains.

The Sibuya Group stands out with its digital communication, since in 2023 it won The Best Digital Restaurants award, and its CEO, Jesús Fernández, was recognized as the best marketing manager by Castilla y León Económica.
