Spanish cinema, the main protagonist of the BCN Film Fest with seven world premieres

Spanish cinema, the main protagonist of the BCN Film Fest with seven world premieres

'Alumbramiento', by Pau Teixidor, and 'Caída libre', by Laura Jou, are some of the outstanding Spanish productions that will have their absolute premiere at the Barcelona International Film Festival BCN Film Fest, which will begin next April 18 with 'House in flames', by Dani de la Orden. In total, seven world premieres and three Catalan premieres join the contest directed by Conxita Casanovas.

Inside the official section you can see 'Alumbramiento', Pau Teixidor's second film after 'Purgatorio'; 'Caída libre', second title by Laura Jou, with Belén Rueda, Manuela Vellés and Irene Escolar; and 'Escanyapobres', by Ibai Abad, a free western adaptation of Narcís Oller's novel of the same name, starring Àlex Brendemühl and Mireia Vilapuig.

Out of competition are 'Disco, Ibiza, Locomía', by Kike Maíllo, biopic of the Spanish disco music group of the 80s and 90s, performed by Jaime Lorente, Blanca Suárez and Alberto Ammann; and 'La casa', by Álex Montoya, adaptation of the comic of the same name by Paco Roca.

In the Open Zone section we find 'Calladita', by Miguel Faus, the first European film financed only with NFT, starring Paula Grimaldo, Ariadna Gil and Luis Bermejo; 'Montserrat, Integral 107', by Biel Macià; and 'El rei Peret', by Esteve Rovira, with Pepe Anton Muñoz. And in Cinema with Gràcia, 'Mala persona', by Fer García-Ruiz, with Malena Alterio and Julián Villagrán will be screened.

Belén Rueda, Ariadna Gil, Enric Auquer, Macarena García, Jaime Lorente, Irene Escolar, Alberto San Juan, Clara Segura, María Rodríguez, Emma Vilarasau, Blanca Suárez, David Verdaguer, Malena Alterio, Alex Brendemühl, Mireia Vilapuig, Laura Conejero, Alberto Ammann, Arturo Valls, Manuela Vellés, Luis Bermejo, Jordi Coll, Pep Anton Muñoz and Asia Ortega will be some of the protagonists of the BCN Film Fest, which will run until April 26.

As announced a few weeks ago, the festival will have the presence of Meg Ryan as a great guest star, in addition to Vincent Perez, Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache.
