Sol Picó once again calls upon choreographers in creative maturity in the trio 'Tianas'

The choreographers and dancers Sol Picó, Natsuki and Charlotta Öfverholm bring Titanas, the work that vindicates maturity in dance and that has been the meeting point on the stages of these performers with more than 30 years of experience, who do not tire of waste talent. And despite being artists who have established themselves individually and with different styles, they managed to produce a piece that mixes the best of each of their identities and that promises to be full of surprises. Among these surprises is the union of a fourth titan: Judit Farrés, the Catalan composer, DJ and arranger who will be in charge of providing sound to the work and who will be accompanied by 12 women from the Actea choir, mixing modern and electronic sounds with the songs. from the choir.

But this is not all, the piece also includes the visual effects of the Polish artist Milosh Luczynski, who with his visual projections will replace the traditional lighting in this choreography that can be seen at the Mercat de les Flors between November 2 and 5 and which It has all the elements to be a great show.

And if Titanas's proposal is to reclaim maturity, it achieves it successfully. The piece, which had its premiere last year at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, was recently awarded as the best choreographic direction, an award given for its contribution to the performing arts by the Community of Valencia, which speaks of its quality and which shows that age is not an impediment when creativity and talent abound in a world like dance, where it has become accustomed to seeing young bodies. “If we talk about years, we are not old, but in the world of dance we are. "I don't feel old and we are going to continue doing this." comments Swedish choreographer Charlotta Öfverholm.

But the staging of Titanas was not free of difficulties. Uniting three artists with more than 30 years of individual career and with marked leadership can be complex. But the result was a space of freedom for these dancers who are in a similar life process. “The most complex thing is the art of the encounter, the encounter is difficult,” commented Sol Picó during the presentation of Titanas at the Mercat. “The show is the meeting point of the three at this moment. We see to what extent our identities can converge.” she adds. The union of artists with different styles can be difficult, but this has also enriched the act, generating interesting connections and surprises, marked by the possibilities offered by the experiences of the dancers and the styles of each one. “A very interesting meeting with the connection between our trajectories, which are very individual trajectories, and it is a gift to be able to unite them,” says Anna Ventura, better known as Natsuki.

For her part, Charlotta Öfverholm thinks in the same vein as her colleagues, adding that an act like this can bring many surprises. “We have worked individually, we have our companies and projects for many years and it was very difficult at the beginning to find a way to work together, but I think we found something and it is full of surprises.”

And the three dancers will not be alone in this staging. A fourth is added to the three titans of dance, but this time from the sound point of view. Judit Farrés, the Catalan musical artist, will be in charge of creating the sound part of this work that she defines as “energetically magical.” And her compositions closest to electronic music will be accompanied by the Actea choir, a choir of 12 women from the city of Barcelona who will contribute their voices to the show where different styles come together.

Another new feature that this work adds is in the lighting, since it will not be illuminated in the traditional way. The person in charge is the Polish artist Milosh Luczynski, who with his spectacular visual projections will provide the lighting for an innovative work in terms of scenography and narrative.

Titanas, the work co-produced between the Mercat de les Flors and the Palau de les Arts de Valencia, where the visuals of Milosh Luczynski, the sound compositions of Judit Farrés, the talent of the choreographers and dancers Sol Picó, Natsuki and Charlotta Öfverholm come together and the voices of the choir can be seen in the Pina Bausch room of the Market, between November 2 and 5.
