The former mayor of Barcelona Ada Colau, the former Minister of Equality Irene Montero, the chef Ada Parellada and the soccer player Jennifer Hermoso participated this Wednesday in a posthumous tribute in Barcelona to the actress Itziar Castro, who died last week at the age of 46.

Presented by the actresses and friends Maria Molins, Cristina Dilla and Imma Sust, this tribute, which took place days after the funeral chapel and the intimate funeral in the Barcelona town of Pallejà, took place at the Red Fish restaurant, one of her favorite places in the city, where about 150 people attended, some of them dressed in red, like the presenters and Colau herself.

Among the attendees were the parents of the ill-fated actress, who were received with prolonged and loud applause, the playwright and screenwriter Guillem Clua, the lawyer and criminologist Carla Vall, the actress Àngels Gonyalons or the television presenters Ares Teixidó and Alejandra Castelló.

In statements to the press, Ada Colau explained: "A group of friends quickly organized to pay tribute, Itziar herself had left it in writing that she wanted to be remembered and we are here to commit that we will not forget her."

It was "a horrible, sudden death that no one expected, we will miss her, because she was an impressive woman, with incredible artistic talent, who had to fight against prejudice, hate speech, discrimination, and who He never lost his smile and his will to live.

Preceded by a recorded message of support from Andreu Buenafuente, in her intervention Irene Montero showed her affection for the figure of Itziar Castro and described his early death as "unjust."

Montero highlighted that this tribute is "to celebrate his life, people who have shared his life, his struggle, with joy and a sense of humor."

According to the former minister, "the love and feminism that characterized her are a caring way of expressing that sadness and anger at that violence, fatphobia, machismo and lgtbiphobia shown even on the day of her death."

Soccer player Jennifer Hermoso has spoken "from the heart" to say: "You can't imagine what Itzi did for me, in the worst moments I went through recently and I promise you that the strength that this woman has given me I will always carry with me."

Hermoso wanted to "say goodbye to her as she deserves" and recalled that in those difficult days after winning the Women's World Cup "there was not a day that did not have a message of support from her."
