Given its success, Fundación MAPFRE extends the hours of the Leonora Carrington exhibition

The arrival in Madrid of the first retrospective of Leonora Carrington in Spain, by Fundación MAPFRE in co-production with the ARKEN Museum for Moderne Kunst in Denmark, has been a complete success with the public since its inauguration. To favor the attendance of visitors in the coming days, which are the last in which the historical exhibition 'Leonora Carrington. Revelation' will remain in the Recoletos theaters in Madrid (Paseo Recoletos 23), Fundación MAPFRE has extended its hours by two more hours than usual: until the closing day itself, May 7, it will close at 10:00 p.m.

A complete, singular and ahead of her time artist, Leonora Carrington (Clayton-le-Woods, Lancashire, 1917-Mexico City, 2011) was one of the main representatives of the surrealist movement. Her extensive work was marked by her turbulent life, in which she suffered uprooting, sexual violence, mental illness, exile, and forgetfulness. Her trajectory can be seen in an exhibition tour through ten sections that highlight the most outstanding themes of this author through paintings, drawings, photos, tapestry sculptures and documents. The exhibition, which takes a chronological journey through Carrington's intense life, aims to pay homage and publicize her work, better known in the United States and Mexico than in Europe.
