The search for the cat Blanqui is becoming a struggle between the Society for the Protection of Animals and Plants of Madrid (SPAP) and Adif, since the entity reported the disappearance a few days ago in the L5 tunnel of the Atocha station of the pet and has unsuccessfully asked to be let in.

The SPAP explains that the cat escaped on December 19 when its carrier opened after the woman carrying it tripped and fell down the stairs, the animal escaping towards a tunnel of which it is still unknown if it is still there.

For this reason, the entity requested permission from Adif and Renfe to let them rescue the pet, which the station managers "denied", according to SPAP. Its members have asked volunteers with training and means of capturing cats (nets and trap cages) to enter the tunnel to locate and rescue them.

Furthermore, they assure that they would do it at dawn so as not to interfere with the circulation of trains with passengers, something that neither Adif nor Renfe would have accepted, which they consider "omission of assistance to an injured, injured or endangered animal."

"They have only agreed to have their security personnel place trap cages in a certain area for 72 hours, but that possibility is no longer even authorized or to expand the area where they can place cages. We have witnessed the lack of sensitivity towards the life of a animal and the absence of protocols to act in cases like this," denounces the SPAP.

On the other hand, they remember that "if you act quickly, the chances of success in locating and rescuing a lost animal are very high", while "failing to comply with this obligation results in crimes of abandonment and animal abuse since the cat will end up dying if she is not rescued.”
