Catch a million was one of the most notable programs on Antena 3 during the last decade. Under the presentation of Carlos Sobera, thousands of contestants passed through the sets of Antena 3 trying to retain the million euros that the contest assigned them at the beginning of each program. A total of ten questions to survive, choosing whether or not to sacrifice different monetary amounts among the three possible options.
This past Saturday, the contest returned to the San Sebastián de los Reyes network with Juanra Bonet, with new participants and questions. The broadcast left a historic moment in the history of the format, when the students Álex and Juanmi gambled on the last question and ended up winning 550,000 euros. However, the most remembered scene of the night would occur minutes later, and for negative reasons.
After the victory of Álex and Juanmi, it was the turn of Laura and Marta, who have advanced during the different phases of the program thanks to the help of their friend Mercedes, who had provided them with an amulet in the form of a photograph of herself, with the border of graduate. However, the last of the questions they were able to answer has been the one that has generated the most discourse on the networks, becoming a duel between alleged misandry and misogyny.
The question in question, the penultimate one of the challenge, was the following: “On average, who has the largest brain? Men, women or children?” During the minute in question, Laura and Marta have reasoned that the answer was found in women: “It is also quite logical, if you realize since prehistoric times they hunted and women gathered fruits, that is why we differentiate more colors and that is why our brain has to be more developed.”
Likewise, another comment has made them hesitate and divide their 275,000 euros between two options: "Children have smaller skulls, but larger brains." After time ran out, Juanra Bonet surprised the participants by revealing that the correct answer was the first, men. This result has generated thousands of criticisms and ridicule from men who accused them of “feminist closed-mindedness” and misandry.
