Vox wants to prevent Rosalía from encouraging voting in the European elections

Vox questions that the European Commission wants to use celebrities like Rosalía or Taylor Swift to encourage young people to vote in the next European elections. The head of the party's delegation in the European Parliament, Jorge Buxadé, has formally asked in Brussels what amount they are willing to pay to hire "millionaire singers" to promote the vote with their fame.

Santiago Abascal's party is especially bothered by the possibility that the European Commission could hire Rosalía, because in 2019 the singer from Sant Esteve Sesrovires made it clear in several tweets that she is totally against the far right. The most direct is the tweet in which she literally said "Fuck vox" ('Vox, fuck you!') the day after the Spanish elections, when the party doubled its seats.

As for Taylor Swift, Vox criticizes that the artist is American and, therefore, belongs to a country that is not a member of the European Union. When presenting the proposal, which has not yet been finalized, the European Commission explained that, in September, Taylor Swift called on young Americans online to register to vote and that the next day 35,000 young people had done so.

On the other hand, the far-right party has made changes in its leadership. Santiago Abascal has appointed Ignacio Garriga as his right-hand man and sole vice president of the party. A position that he will combine with that of secretary general and that of deputy of the extreme right in the Parliament of Catalonia.

Javier Ortega Smith, until now one of the three vice presidents of the party, has been demoted to member, as have MEP Jorge Buxadé and Deputy Reyes Romero. This is the executive proposal that Abascal makes and that the party's militants will have to ratify at the Extraordinary General Assembly on January 27.
