Towards a fashion without gender or seasons

What is fashion if not a reflection of society and the changes that coexist in it. Concepts such as the climate emergency and a world that does not understand gender were personified yesterday on the second day of the Catalan catwalk.

This year, 080 Barcelona Fashion Week has a futuristic and label-free look thanks to an agenda that mixes iconic creatives with promising faces. Cherry Massia debuted and opened the fashion show circuit yesterday at the modernist venue of Sant Pau with a proposal that plays with the Greek myth of Eros and Psyche – the fusion of love and the soul – to present a collection that combines romanticism and sensuality. Slip dresses, transparencies and embroidery, sequins and cut-out cuts are considered the most daring wardrobe for the new generations.

She was followed by a pillar of these fashion days, Lebor Gabala, who under the command of Maite Muñoz envisions for next spring a closet full of flowers, fresh dresses and shine. A relaxed and colorful fashion in which 3D flowers stand out on brooches and necklaces.

The main course arrived at seven in the afternoon with Custo. This year, the iconic couturier has used the 080 as an experimental laboratory for a line without stations. “To differentiate it from what was presented in Madrid and New York, for the first time we have created a collection with winter looks that are interspersed with summer outfits,” he explains, adding that at a time when the seasons are blurring, it has “all the sense of the world” towards timeless fashion.

The finishing touch to this second day was provided by Carlota Barrera. The debut of the Asturian who comes from the British catwalk was an ode to tailoring. A fashion without genders in which timelessness is not an option but a necessity.

“True sustainability is in a piece that worked five years ago and now,” acknowledges the creative, who proposed a line built from timeless pieces from her previous collections.
