The British monarchy is mired in a crisis of public confidence after the controversy over the manipulated photo of the Princess of Wales, two months after her mysterious "abdominal surgery" of which hardly any details were offered and which has given rise to all kinds of of speculation by the media.

After several agencies warned of modifications, she ended up apologizing through her social networks and clarified that the image had been retouched by "experimenting as an amateur photographer."

However, this crisis of confidence seems to be far from over, because the Getty agency has confirmed that one of the last published photographs of Elizabeth II was also digitally manipulated.

The image in question is a portrait of the monarch, in which she appears with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, published by Buckingham Palace on what would have been the monarch's 97th birthday in April 2023.

"Getty Images reviewed the image in question and gave it an editor's note, indicating that the image has been digitally enhanced at the source," a spokesperson for the agency told The Telegraph.

Following this confirmation, the outlet highlighted "several inconsistencies," including a vertical line where the tartan on the late Queen's skirt doesn't match, as well as a repeat of Mia Tindall's hair.

In that image, taken by the Princess of Wales during a family trip to Balmoral, Queen Elizabeth II appears, surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is sitting in the middle of a green sofa, next to William and Catherine's children. Next to them, more at the ends, her cousins, also members of the British royal family.
