Cándido Conde-Pumpido Varela, son of the president of the Constitutional Court and well-known lawyer, was released after being arrested last Friday after being accused of an alleged group sexual assault. This was decreed last Sunday by the chief judge of the investigating court number 44 of Madrid, who released the three detainees without any precautionary measure, according to judicial sources.

In her arguments, the judge determined that the security camera recordings "distort" the version of the woman who reported that he had sexually assaulted her along with two other men. In her complaint, the woman explained that the lawyer contacted her so that she would go to her house, where she was forced to have relations without her consent, and that she reported them that same day.

The judge explains that, based on what has been investigated up to that point, "there is no objective situation of risk for the complainant that justifies the adoption of the precautionary measure concerned." What's more, according to the images provided by the lawyer, obtained from the security cameras at her home on November 3, the version maintained by the woman is "distorted."

In these images, a different story is told from the one shared with the complainant, since he can be seen in different rooms of the house throughout the early morning and early morning hours. None of the other defendants appear, and they have also proven that they were in another place.

"There is also no situation similar to that described" by the complainant, the judge argues. In the images obtained by closed circuit security cameras, she is always seen alone or with Cándido Conde Pumpido, with whom she was in a bedroom for hours.

For this reason, the judge concluded that the requirements of necessity, suitability, proportionality and weighting required to decree precautionary measures are not met.

Conde-Pumpido's legal representative, Ricardo Álvarez Osorio, maintains that this is a false complaint against his client. As the lawyer explains in Más de Uno on Onda Cero, the complainant had approached Conde-Pumpido in a cocktail bar a few days before, starting a relationship of "obsessive" and "insistent" intensity.

When the sexual assault allegedly occurred, the complainant had been living in the accused's house for more than two days, as he explains to the lawyer, who agrees with the judge in her arguments. According to the lawyer, Conde Punpido had asked him to leave "for 24 hours" because he "couldn't take it anymore." According to the accused's story, after several arguments, the woman became angry and began to threaten to spread it in the press and ruin his life. Shortly after, the woman filed a report with the police.

According to Álvarez Osorio, all of this is a ploy to generate a scandal for his client, and he assures that the case will be filed and "this person will be charged with a false complaint."
