The first edition of the Telecinco Secret Story reality show came to an end in December 2021. Mediaset España brought this format to our country together with the production company Zeppelin TV to replace the star program of the chain, Big Brother.
This coexistence reality show stopped broadcasting after one of the contestants sexually abused a partner, who denounced him and the program for not having prevented the events. A few weeks ago, the communication group revealed that GH will return in September in its version with celebrities and that Marta Flich would be in charge of conducting the space as a presenter.
The big difference between Big Brother and Secret Story is that, in the latter format, the contestants entered Guadalix de la Sierra's house with an important secret that would have a weighty role in the competition.
In the edition that came to an end in 2021, one of the contestants who gave the most talk was Lucía Pariente, the mother of Alba Carrillo. Pariente was expelled from the program for the first time on October 21, but the public voted for her so that she was one of the candidates for the play-off and she returned home with her former teammates. Shortly after, she was expelled permanently.
The former Survivors contestant experienced one of the most tense moments of the season when, amid shouting and insults, Jorge Javier Vázquez expelled her from the set at the end of the program.
The harsh disagreement between the presenter and Alba Carrillo's mother caused quite a stir, since she described him as a "bully" and he said that he was "up to the bone" with her and her way of being.
Although this might seem like a typical fight from a Telecinco contest, Lucía Pariente felt humiliated by such injustice and denounced Zeppelin TV, Mediaset España and Jorge Javier Vázquez himself for an alleged unfair dismissal.
In the judicial process, which has lasted almost two years, it has come to light that Pariente charged 8,800 euros gross for each week that she spent in the Guadalix house and, once she was expelled by the audience, 640 euros for each gala or discussion in which you participated.
A Madrid social court exempted Mediaset and Jorge Javier Vázquez from responsibility, but it did sentence Zeppelin TV to compensate Fonsi Nieto's ex-mother-in-law with 6,469.32 euros after acknowledging that her dismissal had been unfair, in addition to the costs of the process. The producer did not agree with the sentence and resorted to the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid.
As the VerTele medium has advanced, Lucía Pariente has now won the case before the instance that has heard the appeal, so it will be necessary to see if Zeppelin TV appeals before the social room of the Supreme Court. The producer's lawyers defend that Pariente has already received a part of the corresponding compensation, but from the Superior Court of Madrid they explain that the company did not allege this information in the trial "and therefore could not be contradicted."
