The original scripts for two episodes of the popular TV series Friends were rescued from a rubbish bin in a London recording studio. The valuable manuscripts were finally sold last Friday in England for 22,000 pounds (25,200 euros), according to the Hanson Ross auction house.
The bidding for these scripts was intense, confirms the auction house's head of operations, Amanda Butler. They had an estimated price of between 600 and 800 pounds (between 696 and 928 euros) and people from all over the world showed their interest. They were eventually acquired by an anonymous international buyer.
"I simply cannot believe the result and the impact that this discovery has had. The bidders went crazy with these scripts," added the head of the auction house, who knows that the series has thousands of followers.
These are two drafts of the fourth season of the series, which were found in 1998 by a member of staff at Fountain Studios, in Wembley (London), where two of the final episodes were recorded.
The scripts were used for the two-part finale called The One With Ross's Wedding, in which members of the series' original cast, including the recently deceased Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer, filmed scenes in England.
The person selling the scripts, whose identity has not been revealed, had worked at these British studios until 1999, although he kept them in a nightstand drawer before cleaning them.
