"There was physical and psychological abuse": Bárbara Rey bursts into tears when talking about the mistreatment suffered at the hands of her mother

A Bárbara life, the docuseries starring Bárbara Rey, premiered this Wednesday on Antena 3 with some of the toughest episodes in the actress's life. One of them was her complicated childhood of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of her mother.

So much so that the vedette has not been able to hold back her tears when remembering so much violence, and has even refused to enter the family home where it all happened. That place still meant reliving the beatings and scorn of her mother, Salvadora, a woman who tried to abort Barbara and never showed any affection for her.

The first of the four episodes of Una vida Bárbara reviewed the vedette's traumatic childhood, as well as her arrival in Madrid to begin her career as an artist. However, it was those first years in her family home that ended up collapsing the protagonist and surprising viewers.

"My mother was an extraordinary housewife," said the actress. "The cleanest house, the extraordinary food, we were always gorgeous and super clean, and my father was the same," she continued. Instead, “that affection that you need from a mother, that affection, that she talks to you, that she understands you, or at least tries, we never had it. Not a kiss or anything, ”she assured.

In fact, "supposedly, from what my mother told me, I should not be in this world," said Bárbara Rey. And it is that when Salvadora, her mother, a woman with many psychological problems, found out that she was pregnant with the actress, "she took the disgust of the century" and "did a lot of things that she told me to not have me ”.

In other words, she tried to abort in every possible way: she gained a lot of weight, sat down the stairs, put her feet in boiling water... "Everything to not have me," Barbara pointed out. Once our protagonist was born, her mother became her worst nightmare.

"With me and my sister there was physical and psychological abuse," revealed the vedette, who explained that her mother was hospitalized for two years and that she always thought that "because of her illness she was not controlled." At this point in the tape, Barbara began to get extremely emotional until she burst into tears.

“I remember less my mistreatment than my sister's. My sister has been as if she had had a little daughter ”, she assured.

In full confession and with tears in her eyes, Barbara added: "Seeing how they hit a 4-year-old girl... she couldn't, she took her out of her hands." To this day, Barbara continues to feel guilty for not having sufficiently defended her sister.

After the story of the violence suffered, the docuseries team accompanied the actress to her childhood home, but she did not want to enter. She flatly refused, she still brought a lot of pain to her memory of that place. "I did not pass. I don't go from here. Sorry but no. It brings me nothing but sadness, anguish, terror ... And on top of her, seeing how she is, it already seems terrible to me, ”she explained.
