The unexpected plot twist of 'The Promise' that has left us in shock

TVE's decision to put one of its star series in the afternoons of La 1 has only achieved success. La Promesa has become the most watched in its broadcast slot for several days, despite competing against Ana Rosa Quintana and Sonsoles Ónega.

And part of the triumph is due to the plot twists and surprises around this novel. Set in Spain in 1913, the series shows the life and complications of those present at the La Promesa Palace, property of the Marquises of Luján, in the Los Pedroches valley.

This Thursday's last episode left viewers speechless. Ramona's return to Luján not only caused an earthquake in the series, but also among viewers. Cruz was practically speechless when he heard the news from Petra. A surprising moment that leaves numerous unknowns in the air, among them, what does the Marchioness know about Ramona?

But that's not the only thing that happened during the new installments. Another return to work turned everything upside down in previous chapters, Pía's. Something that is not being easy for her, since she has to combine being a mother with doing her homework in the best way possible.

Although the last episode has been shocking for many, chapters 193 and 194 will not leave anyone indifferent either. First of all, the marchioness will have to face the arrival of Ramona. But that is not all. Candela, a kitchen assistant, will try to avoid meeting Don Carlos at all costs so as not to have to respond to his marriage proposal.

On the other hand, the decision of the Marquis' brother and his wife to celebrate their daughter's request in La Promesa could end up blowing everything up. The Marquises have not given their approval, and are upset by the humiliation caused by the rumors spread by Margarita at the Garden Party.

In The Promise, women take on a special role. Their strong character makes the plots follow one another. "In the series we will be able to see submissive women in some aspects, since it is completely justified by the story, but there is also the contrast," said Ana Garcés, actress who plays Jana Expósito, in El Confidencial.

"My character is the opposite of that submission. When Jana arrives at La Promesa, it is difficult for her to accept the power dynamics that exist in the palace. In the first chapter she tells Manuel 'People like us are forced to keep your feet on the ground,'" he added.
