The secrets of El Rincón, the wedding venue of Tamara Falcó and Íñigo Onieva: From the 'National Shotgun' to the Russian plane

Tamara Falcó is only one day away from going down the aisle and saying the desired "I do" to her future husband Íñigo Onieva. The Marquise de Griñón has chosen the El Rincón palace, an architectural jewel that has remained in her family for generations, to celebrate her wedding. The place has a special meaning for Tamara, according to her, it evokes fond memories of her father, Carlos Falcó -V Marqués de Griñón- who lived his last days in the private area of the palace until he lost his life due to the Covid-19.

El Rincón is a landscaped fortress built in the 19th century, located in the Aldea del Freso region, 54 km from Madrid. Originally, it was ordered to be built by the Duke of Santoña, Juan Manuel de Manzanedo, in 1812. The palace has been put to different uses throughout history. During the Spanish Civil War, it served as a hospital for the Republican side, while during the Franco era it became a general headquarters, especially during the battle of Brunete. Finally, the property was returned to the great-grandson of the Duke of Santoña, who was married to Paloma Falcó, Carlos Falcó's aunt. Since the couple had no children, Carlos became the universal heir of El Rincón. Currently, the owners are Tamara Falcó and her older brother, Manuel.

A large staircase is the one that offers the welcome to the interior, a recognizable place in the documentary by Tamara, La Marquesa. To your right is the "social room" of the palace, presided over by a large fireplace that exhibits a propeller from a Russian civil war plane. The castle has three large halls and more than 30 rooms, most of which have been accommodated for weddings, which makes one believe that Tamara Falcó was getting ready in one of those rooms. Following the characteristic style of 19th century palaces, the decoration is based on magnificence, with large chandeliers, paintings and luxurious furniture.

However, El Rincón currently shows advanced signs of deterioration, with serious problems with humidity and cracks, which could be one of the reasons why Tamara has decided to celebrate her wedding abroad.

This type of rural property has extensive surrounding land, and in the case of El Rincón they cover 123 hectares with numerous vineyards, gardens and even a bamboo forest. These common characteristics in the palaces of the time make the estate an ideal place to celebrate outdoor events. Due to previous celebrations, it is expected that the wedding of Tamara and Íñigo will take place in the garden near the pond and the courtyard of the stables, in addition, tents and platforms will be placed to protect themselves from the sun.

The palace requires expensive maintenance. Over the years, Carlos Falcó and his daughter Tamara have tried to make the farm profitable. El Rincón has created its own wine brand, exploiting almost nine hectares and creating one of the most representative wines of the denomination of origin of Madrid wines. It has also been a recording space for several films such as Escopeta Nacional (1978), some scenes from the Berlin series and the Spanish television series La promesa is currently being recorded.

The farm not only hosts weddings of others, it has also been the scene of events for the Falcó-Preysler-Iglesias family on numerous occasions. The Marquis de Griñón himself used the palace to marry his fourth and last wife, Esther Doña.

In 2012 Tamara's brother, Julio José Iglesias, married the model Charisse Verhaert who has been his ex-wife since 2021.
